Who’s on the Lord’s Side? | John 7

November 10, 2024
Maybe it’s just my perspective, but it feels like there’s a division among people even now because of Christ.

As I was reading John 7, I recognized verse 17: “If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.”

But what stood out to me was verse 43.

“So there was a division among the people because of him.”

Maybe it’s just my perspective, but it feels like there’s a division among people even now because of Christ.

Luke 12:51 says “Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division.”

I guess because we are free to choose for ourselves, there will always be division and opposition between people. It feels like people are more likely to take sides now and that there’s less and less middle ground.

In Exodus 32, Moses asks the Israelites, “Who is on the Lord’s side?”

Trying to do God’s will as Jesus mentioned in verse 17 is a good way to show Him that you’re committed to being on the Lord’s side.
