The priests and scribes tried to trick Jesus into saying something to condemn him. They asked if it was lawful for them to pay tribute to Caesar. Jesus said, “Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which be Cæsar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s.” 🪙
This answer made them marvel since they couldn’t argue with it or condemn Him because of it.
But what does it mean to give unto God the things which are God’s?
What does God ask us to give to Him?
He asks us for gratitude and praise.
He asks us for a sacrifice of a broken heart and contrite spirit.
He asks us to obey His commandments.
When we do these things, He immediately blesses us, making us forever indebted to Him for all that we have.
He is good and kind.
