“Watch ye therefore, and pray always”
Watch and pray are used repeatedly in the scriptures. We know why we should pray always. But what should we watch for? Here are some things I found in the Bible.
👀 Watch and prepare
“Set a watch against them day and night” (Nehemiah 4:9)
Just as a soldier on a watchtower keeps an eye out for his enemy, we can be vigilant in watching out for the adversary and rely on God’s commandments to keep us safe.
👀 Watch yourself
“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation (Matthew 26:1)
Examine your life regularly to repent and follow God’s will.
👀 Watch over
“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night” (Luke 2:8)
Be mindful of others and show love and care for their needs.
👀 Watch and Excitedly Await
“Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching.” Luke 12:37
Be excited about having the Lord in your life and find ways to seek Him out more.
