Let the Children Come Unto Me | Luke 18

November 23, 2024
How would a child receive the kingdom of God?

I’ve worked from home for years, and when my kids were little, I would feel bad if they made noise or interrupted calls with clients.

I guess that’s probably how Jesus’s disciples felt when people would bring their children to see Jesus.

They didn’t want Jesus to be bothered by childish things.

Jesus rebuked them and instead called the little children to Him, saying “Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” (Luke 18:16)

He goes on to say that we should receive the kingdom of God as a little child.

How would a child receive the kingdom of God?

I imagine that they would look at it all with childish wonder, gratitude, and excitement.

They wouldn’t worry about it not being what they wanted or hoped because they wouldn’t bring any expectations with them.

Maybe we could look at the kingdom of God, or just life in general, in that way more often.
