From today’s Bible reading: Matthew 14
The disciples were in a boat on a storm tossed sea.
Suddenly they saw a man walking on the water. They realized that it was Jesus.
Peter said, “Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.”
Jesus told him to come, and Peter stepped out of the boat and onto the water.
A couple of steps later, Peter looked around at the waves. He became afraid and began to sink.
I think we’re often like Peter. We can move forward as long as we keep our eyes on Jesus.
But we become afraid when we look around and lose our focus.
We can become overwhelmed and feel like we’re drowning in the problems of life.
But just like Jesus reached out to grab Peter by the hand when he called, “Lord, save me!” Jesus is waiting to help us and pull us back up.
As I’ve been doing this Bible challenge every day, I’ve been feeling pretty good about life. As I’ve been reading, I’ve been praying daily, and I’ve been listening to uplifting music. I felt lifted and happy. But this last week was a bit of a struggle. Looking back I see that I let my focus slip and I became afraid. I had looked around me and doubted a little bit.
I’ve still been praying and reading, so when I called out in prayer for help to get over the feeling of fear and overwhelm I felt, I had a peace wash over me.
It’s real. He’s there.
I turned on some music and the messages I heard were exactly what I needed to get over what I’d been feeling.
He knows me. He loves me.
He knows and loves you too.❤️
Call out to Him in your struggles and see what happens 😉
