I’ve Learned How to Turn On the Light | John 12

November 30, 2024
Changing my perspective from desperation to praise turned on the light of Christ for me.

Sometimes things look dark and bleak. I was experiencing one of those moments and praying that God could bring me peace. I happened to have my notes for my 90-Day Bible Challenge open on my computer, and I felt like I should start reading.

As I read John 12, I realized that I knew how to turn on the light in my life. In Luke 20, we learned that God asks us for gratitude and praise. Changing my perspective from desperation to praise turned on the light of Christ for me.

“While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light.”

If you’ve ever been in an unfamiliar room in the dark, sometimes it’s hard to find the switch to turn on the lights. However, if you’ve been in that room many times before and know exactly where the light switch is, you can easily turn on the light in the darkness. It’s so important to learn to feel Christ’s light before we are caught in the darkness.

Christ can still find us in the darkness and help us to turn on the light. But it’s so comforting knowing that you can find the Light whenever you need it.

I’m also very aware that for some people, that light doesn’t turn on very easily. Those suffering with mental health issues or devastating circumstances might find that the power is out and the lights don’t come on like they used to.

That’s why it’s so important for those with the light to shine it for others. I want to learn how to make my tiny little candle flame burn a little brighter. But even though my light is small, it can help me point someone toward the Son, which shines brighter than all of us.
