From this week’s Bible reading: Matthew 5
This chapter is the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount. Matthew 5 contains some of the most well-known verses in the Bible.
What does Jesus teach?
He asks us to be meek, merciful, and pure in heart.
He encourages us to be peacemakers, loving, and righteous.
If we are persecuted for righteousness or for Christ’s sake, we should rejoice and be glad.
We can let our light shine, love our enemies, and control our anger.
This is a great time for self-examination – where do I struggle with these things? What can I do this week to get better at letting my light shine, or being a peacemaker? What am I doing pretty well at?
Jesus says we are blessed when we do these things.
What blessings can we see in your life as you try to follow the teachings of Jesus?
