One of the last things Jesus did was to make sure His mother was taken care of. As He hung on the cross, even in his agony He asked one of His disciples to care for her as if she were his own mother.
Even in His pain, He still loved and provided for the needs of others.
His selflessness is incredible.
We are naturally prone to selfishness and self-preservation.
How do we come close to becoming as selfless as Jesus?
It was His love.
The pure love of Christ.
Charity is the pure love of Christ.
“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; beareth all things, believeth allthings, hopeth allthings, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.” (1 Corinthians 13:8)
