Be Ye Therefore Merciful | Luke 6

Luke 6
We all have our own fears and struggles that affect our judgment. We have “beams” in our eyes that keep us from seeing others as they really are.

I’ve got something in my eye 🤦‍♀️

From today’s Bible reading: Luke 6

Luke 6 contains many of the same teachings of Jesus that are found in other books like Matthew and Mark, but worded a bit differently since they were recorded from someone else’s perspective, or maybe Jesus even taught the same thing at another time, wording it slightly differently for a different audience.

One phrase that stood out to me was “Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.”

The chapter continues with, “Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:”

As a designer, I once created marketing materials for a woman who was a mindset coach. She worked with other women who felt held back from success by “blocks” that were usually fears and habits that kept them from feeling confident enough to create success. Usually these fears and habits originated from childhood or past traumas and experiences that shaped that person’s way of seeing the world. They held beliefs about themselves or others that weren’t true, simply because of fears created by past experiences.

While working with her, I realized that we never really know how a person’s past affects who they are today. So many women she worked with had gone through emotional trauma that they never spoke about to anyone. They had to learn or relearn that they were valuable, loved women before they could move forward in their lives. It’s made me feel more empathy for people and realize that we all have hidden struggles.

We all have our own fears and struggles that affect our judgment. We have “beams” in our eyes that keep us from seeing others as they really are.

While we need to do our best to righteously judge situations, decisions, and actions, we can’t accurately judge people, not even ourselves.

Only Jesus can. But first He offers us a way to overcome. 🤗

He tells us that we are valuable and loved. His words give us hope and peace. He helps us to “fear not.” His commandments give us direction and promise blessings. He offers us His infinite mercy and healing. ♥️

“Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.” Luke 6:36
