Hosanna! | Matthew 21

November 24, 2024
We have a little more than a month to go before Christmas, and we’re going to spend December reading about Holy Week. How cool is that?

When I started reading this chapter and realized that it was telling the story of Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, I realized that I was beginning to read about Holy Week, Jesus’s last week before His death and resurrection.

We have a little more than a month to go before Christmas, and we’re going to spend December reading about Holy Week. How cool is that?

As Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey (as foretold in Zechariah 9:9) the people shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.”

Hosanna is translated from Hebrew as, “please save us.” It is a plea for salvation.

Jesus wasn’t coming to conquer a political enemy or save them from worldly oppression.

What He would accomplish was infinitely more important than that.

The people didn’t know it yet, but what Jesus would do that week would allow Him to save them, and us, from sin and death.

Jesus is our Savior. 🥰
