So Many Good Verses… | Matthew 18

November 8, 2024

I couldn’t decide which to focus on. There are just so many good lessons in Matthew 18.

1️⃣ Jesus calls a little child to Him and told the people that they should become as little children.. Children are meek, humble, and full of love. I like imagine that the small child was sitting on Jesus’ lap, smiling and happy to be near Jesus.

2️⃣ Jesus also teaches about forgiveness in Matthew 18. Simon Peter asks how many times he needs to forgive someone. Up to 7 times maybe? Surely that’s enough before he would be justified in retribution. Jesus tells him to forgive 70 x 7 times, meaning he should always forgive. He goes on to teach that if we expect forgiveness from God, we should be willing to forgive one another.

3️⃣ Jesus says that if a man has 100 sheep and one goes astray, wouldn’t he leave the others and go after the one? And when he finds it, he rejoices over it. He doesn’t want any of us to go astray because He loves us all. Matthew 18:11 says, “For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.”

4️⃣ I also love this scripture in verse 20: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them.” I think it’s awesome that we can gather from all over the world now through social media and other channels and discuss the life and mission of Jesus Christ.
