Today’s Bible reading: Luke 9
5,000 people. 5 loaves of bread. 2 fish. 12 baskets of leftovers.
As my daughter would say, the math isn’t mathing.
Jesus had been teaching the large crowd for quite some time, and they were hungry.
Jesus told His disciples to feed the people, but the only food they could come up with was a few loaves of bread and a couple of fish.
Surely that couldn’t feed 5,000 people…
But Jesus blessed it and broke it and the disciples shared it with the crowd.
Miraculously, not only was it enough to feed all 5,000 people until they were full, there were 12 baskets full of leftovers.
➡️ At times we may feel like all we have is a few loaves of bread and a couple of fish – a meager offering to do the work of the Lord.
But God can multiply our efforts until they overflow.
What did you learn from the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000?
