Why did Jesus perform miracles?

📖 From today’s Bible reading: Matthew 9

Because of love.❤️
He responded to the needs of those around him by healing the sick and feeding the hungry.

To invite us to believe. 🙏
He did things no one else could do to show us that He was unlike other men.

To fulfill prophecy. 📖
Many things He did fulfilled the prophecies of prophets that came before him.

To teach us. 👈
He showed us how to be compassionate and merciful.

In Matthew 9, Matthew quickly goes over some of Christ’s miracles:

He healed a man sick with palsy who was lowered into a house. Jesus also forgave his sins. “For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins… Arise, take up thy bed, and to into thine house.” (Matthew 9:6) This shows He has power to not only heal, but forgive sin.

He healed a woman suffering with an issue of blood for twelve years who touched the hem of his garment in a crowded street. He noticed her touch and looked to see who had touched Him. He told her “Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole.” (Matthew 9:22) This shows that He notices us and can make us whole again.

He raised a young girl from the dead. “He went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.” This shows He had power even over death.

He made the blind to see. “Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.” This shows that faith in Him makes miracles possible.
